My concept is to cover “Nuts and bolts as well as bits and pieces”. Nuts and bolts, like blogging and personal growth, have their own categories while bits and pieces are lumped together under a few wider categories.

WordPress.com has released Clouds and Drop Downs which makes things easier. I have added the tag cloud in my side menu, it shows my categories. And I use the drop down menu for archives in order to keep the side menu shorter but still functional.
