LinkedIn has started something called LinkedIn For Good. The introduction goes like this:
With a network of over 11 million professionals spanning the globe, LinkedIn is an immensely powerful platform. A few of us here decided that we should be doing more to leverage the network to promote positive social change, and LinkedIn For Good is our first step in that direction.
This is a really great way to make use of a network for good causes. Now, if I can only make them add The Hunger Project to the list…

Another company that helps you use your online contacts for good is Firstgiving.com. It’s a website where you can make your own personalized fundraising page for practically any non-profit that you support! With your page you can use a badge or widget to promote it on your various social networking pages (think LinkedIn, MySpace, etc) and your blog. It’s easy to use and all funds raised are sent directly to the non-profit.
Bengt,
I’m curious — how is it that you’re connected with The Hunger Project? I work for THP.
Jim,
I do some volunteer work for THP in Sweden.
