Jason at JibberJobber usually blogs about topics related to that site but during a week he posted his blogging secrets. Five posts that are really useful and worth reading (and re-reading).
Day 1 is about relationships. The post is about long term work, with things like commenting in selected blogs and link love. All with the aim of building relationships and making your blog (and yourself) known.
Day 2 is about branding. This is about knowing what your brand is and trying to stay on-brand.
Day 3 is about abundance mentality. It is about sharing and Jason, among other things, writes this:
Share your wealth of information with your readers. It’s all about providing value to your readers. You can’t be the smartest guy on the planet, and there are fountains of information that you go to… share this with your readership and they’ll come back to you because they know you are going to be an excellent source of information and knowledge leads.
Day 4 is about build community. More of hard work for a blogger but long term rewarding.
And finally Day 5 is about be wary of technology . Jason sees blogging as self-publishing. I agree, blogging is one way of being seen and heard. It is a means (to me) and not and end in itself. Jason also writes about how to promote your blog, I find that tricky and it is hard to build an audience.
